What
is Medical Acupuncture?
Medical acupuncture is a modern approach to acupuncture based on scientific principles.
It uses ultra fine needles to stimulate and regulate the body’s natural
processes. Medical acupuncture aids in decreasing pain and inflammation, promotes
tissue healing and restores muscle strength.
How is it performed?
Medical acupuncture uses extremely fine needles and is performed by highly
trained healthcare practitioners. The needles are inserted into specific anatomical
location in order to stimulate nerves, muscles and joints.
People experience acupuncture differently. A slight sensation when the needle
is inserted may be felt, but it is not generally considered painful. Once the
needles are in place, usually nothing is felt. As a matter of fact, some people
find acupuncture very relaxing.
At the clinic we only use sterile, disposable needles that are used only once
and then disposed of.
Who can it help?
Specific conditions for which acupuncture is effective include:
- Headaches
- Back pain
- Shoulder pain
- Strains
- Tendonitis
- Insomnia
- Sinusitis
